PVC Foam Board VS PVC With Composite

Jan. 22, 2022

Whether you are making decks, furniture, or banners, two of the most popular material choices are PVC (polyvinyl chloride) and composite panels. Both have different uses in different industries from construction and furniture to the advertising business. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, so if you must choose, it is best to understand how each method works and then relate them to your purpose.

Let us know what they are and how they differ:

What is PVC foam board?

PVC is made entirely of plastic and is the material of choice for many industries. They are lightweight and moisture resistant. It is also non-corrosive. This means that come rain or shine, PVC materials stand the test of time.

PVC is also very flexible in terms of use, depending on requirements. You can paint, engrave or emboss it, or even laminate it. In addition, PVC foam board is durable. Therefore, it is the material of choice for wall panels, display panels, car roofs, screen printing, advertising, etc.

What is laminated foam board?

As the name suggests, composite foam boards are made up of two materials, plastic and wood. Therefore, they are also known as wood-plastic composite panels or WPC. the wood and plastic used for composite panels come from recycled materials and are therefore considered to be environmentally friendly.

Types of composite materials.

Capped

Uncapped.

Capped composites contain a mixture of wood and plastic, but the outer cover is made of plastic, which protects the core from damage. Thus, capped composites have a long service life.

Uncapped composites do not have such characteristics and therefore can be porous and exposed to damage and fungus.

The main differences you should know between PVC and composite panels

Components: You should decide whether you want to use plastic or prefer a mixture of materials. PVC is the way to go for the former, the latter is a composite material.

Look: PVC foam panels have fewer color options than composite panels. But they have their own appeal.

Installation: PVC panels require professional installation, but composite panels can be easily installed or modified.

Features: In terms of water and moisture resistance, both types offer excellent resistance. As for slip resistance, laminate may offer better slip resistance, but you can check with the PVC foam board manufacturer for PVC slip vendors.

Selection Tips

Find out the percentage composition and size of the particles used. If the wood particle content of the laminate is more than 60%, it may mean it is less durable. A smaller size of wood pellet composition means better quality.

Look at the different qualities offered. Look for differences and choose the best from the affordable offerings.

Choose PVC foam board if you're considering durability, but choose laminate if you're looking for a variety of colors. Both types have advantages and disadvantages. You should choose one based on the intended application. Again, at the end of the day, the more you know about the types and composition of PVC and composites, the better decision you can make.
